I have a USB-C dock that works normally with one laptop, but a second laptop only detects some of its connections—or does not detect the dock at all. Both machines have USB-C ports, so I expected them to behave the same way.
Could this come down to different USB-C capabilities, such as video output or power delivery, rather than a faulty dock? I’m interested in what details to check on the laptop and dock before replacing either one. In particular, what usually determines USB-C dock compatibility?
