My laptop fan sometimes ramps up during light work, even when Task Manager shows low CPU usage. It happens most often after waking the machine from sleep, but I haven’t found one app that consistently triggers it.
Could something besides processor load be causing this, such as background updates, a blocked vent, or a sensor reading? If you’ve tracked down a similar low CPU usage fan problem, what did you check first?
