Why Does Regenerative Braking Feel Weaker When an EV Battery Is Full?

In my electric car, lifting off the accelerator usually slows the vehicle noticeably. Right after charging to 100%, though, that effect seems much weaker, and the car coasts farther than I expect.

Is the battery unable to accept as much recovered energy when it’s full, or could temperature or a driving setting also change the feel? I’m interested in how the car handles slowing down when it can’t use its usual level of regenerative braking.
