I’ve written a concise meta description that accurately reflects the page, but the snippet Google shows for some searches is pulled from the page text instead. It seems to vary by query, too.
Is that expected behavior, or does it suggest Google is having trouble understanding the page? I’d be interested in how people decide whether to revise the description or leave it alone when the displayed snippet changes between searches.
