Why Does Regenerative Braking Feel Weaker in Cold Weather?

My electric car seems to slow down less when I lift off the accelerator on cold mornings. The change is most noticeable just after starting the car, and the usual strong regenerative braking returns later in the drive.

Is the battery temperature limiting how much energy the car can recover, or could cabin heating or road conditions also affect the sensation? I’m interested in what drivers should expect in winter and whether the car’s energy display gives a reliable clue about what is happening.
