GPS usually feels precise enough for everyday navigation, but I’ve heard that space weather can interfere with satellite signals. What actually happens during a solar storm: does a phone’s position become less accurate, does the signal drop out, or are the effects mostly limited to specialized systems such as aviation and surveying?
I’d also like to understand whether solar storms affect all GPS receivers in roughly the same way, or whether the receiver and location make a big difference.
