While preparing current affairs, I often find a PIB release that summarizes a government announcement, then a more detailed version on the relevant ministry’s website. Sometimes the wording or figures differ slightly, and I’m not sure which source to cite in my notes.
For UPSC preparation, when is a PIB release enough, and when should I go back to the original ministry document? I’d especially like to hear how others handle policy details, scheme guidelines, and figures that may be revised later. Is there a practical way to keep notes traceable to the source without collecting every press release?
