Why Does the Moon Keep Nearly the Same Face Toward Earth?

From Earth, we mostly see the same side of the Moon. Does that mean the Moon does not rotate, or is its rotation simply synchronized with its orbit?

I’d like to understand how this pattern developed and whether the far side is ever visible from Earth at all. How much of the Moon’s surface can we actually see over time because of its slight apparent wobble?
