Why Does Reddit Remove My Post Even When It Follows the Subreddit Rules?

I’ve had a few Reddit posts removed even though I checked the subreddit rules first. Sometimes the removal notice mentions spam, but the post is a normal text question with no links.

Could Reddit spam filters be reacting to account age, posting frequency, or wording that moderators don’t see as a problem? I’m trying to understand whether this is usually an automated filter or a subreddit-specific setting.
