Commentators often say overcast conditions help the ball swing, but I’ve also seen matches where the weather looked similar and the movement was quite different. How much of the effect comes from humidity or cloud cover, and how much depends on the ball’s condition, seam, or the bowler’s release?
I’d appreciate explanations that separate what players can feel on the field from what the weather itself is actually doing to the ball.
