A query that takes a fraction of a second on my development machine is timing out after deployment. The code and database engine are the same, so I’m trying to work out what changes between the two environments.
Could the difference come from production data volume, missing or stale indexes, connection pooling, or a different query plan? What would you compare first when investigating a query plan difference between local and production databases?
