People often look to their municipal government first when a road floods, rubbish goes uncollected, or local planning causes frustration. Yet responsibility for city services can be split across elected councils, state departments, and separate agencies.
In 2026, what would make urban local bodies more accountable for the services residents expect them to provide? Is the bigger obstacle limited funding, unclear authority, delayed local elections, or something else? I’m interested in examples from different cities, not just the largest metros.
