It actually worked, which does not happen often. The Education Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan, gave his resignation by the end of July. The government also agreed to pay the families of the students who died. But it was not a smooth ride. Police used force and tear gas on students marching towards Parliament, and many people said the police went too far.
