The war is disastrous to energy markets worldwide. There was energy dependence as Russia cut gas supply to Europe. This has catalyzed a lack of diversification, mounting international prices and caused global inflation making economies difficult to maintain as they have to change their energy strategies in the long-term.

The pressure on food security is very intense all over the world. Ukraine and Russia are large exporters of grain and fertilizer. Exports were severely decreased by blocked ports and degraded farmland. This had direct effects including increased world food prices and increased the risk of famine in already weak areas; this was a clear indication of the extensive humanitarian effects of the conflict.

The international rules-based order is seriously damaged by the invasion. Russia contravened central UN Charter concepts of sovereignty and territorial integrity. This indifference towards the basic international law undermines all norms and collective security practices raising the challenge of the post-cold war security order.

There is great damage to the nuclear deterrence stability. The threats and occupation of the nuclear plant in Zaporizhzhya by the Russian nuclear armies create risks. Such nuclear coercion forms a dangerous precedent, which, in future, may promote proliferation and provide the low standards of use of nuclear arms around the world.

The war hastens tremendous geopolitical transformations. It compels countries to review their security that results in higher military expenditures, together with expansion of NATO. Concurrently, it creates rifts between democratic countries and authoritarian nations, dividing the globe in its ability to operate collaboratively on transnational issues and undermining multilateral systems.

Conclusion :

The Ukraine-Russia conflict is extremely harmful to the stability of the world. Its effects, such as energy disturbance, food shortage, contravening international standards, intensified nuclear threat, and geopolitical division, reach as far away as the rest of the world. This war proves the mutual vulnerability of the contemporary world and the need in maintaining the rules-based international order to avoid even wider destabilization.
