The employment situation of IT in India is a package of opportunities as well as problems. This industry itself is one of the largest recruiters, and some of the big players in this industry are TCS, Infosys, and Wipro, always recruiting thousands every year. However, quality employment is not uniform and varies from one country to another and from one worker to another.

Initial employment continues strong at the junior rank while expectations about productivity on the job are high. While mid-level professionals are not struggling with job loss, they are struggling with upskilling. When new technologies such as AI, ML, or blockchain emerged in the market, professionals had to take time to update themselves. Several organisations that do not meet these standards can fire their employees or give them a leave of absence.

Sure, the industry has a high contribution to the GDP, but there are issues such as low wages for the freshers, and the tortuous working conditions cannot be regarded as not being an issue. Most people spend many hours at their workplace, neglecting their social life, just to realise little mobility up the financial ladder.

They are also worried about job security. They attributed the outsourcing layoff to problems such as slow economic growth, problem-filled geopolitics, and shifts in the outsourcing industry landscape. The pandemic brought this issue into the light even further when several IT firms let go of workers.

On the brighter side, the remote working model has provided new opportunities for talent in Tier II cities. The organisations are also targeting growing markets such as product development, finance and technology, and education technology, among others, where they provide more specific roles, which are well-paid.

In conclusion, although IT is an important employment field in India, there is a promising statement: professionals must learn new things and adjust to new conditions because IT is an industry with high risks.
