Step 1: Receive Your Offer Letter

If you are accepted by your chosen school or university after applying, they will send you an Offer Letter. This letter contains information about your course, fees, and conditions. It’s important to read it thoroughly to comprehend your rights and any refund policies.

Step 2: Get your Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE).

Your school will provide you with a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) when you accept the offer and pay any applicable fees. This document verifies that you are legitimately enrolled in your course and is required for your visa application.

Step 3: Demonstrate your English language skills

If English is not your first language, you must submit confirmation of your English proficiency. This normally involves taking language exams, such as IELTS or TOEFL, and submitting the results with your visa application.

Step 4: Prove Your Intent to Study

You must demonstrate that you genuinely want to study in Australia and plan to return home afterward. In your visa application, you’ll answer questions about your background, why you chose Australia, and how your studies will benefit you.

Step 5: Show You Have Enough Money

You need to prove you have enough money to cover your tuition fees, living costs, and travel expenses while studying in Australia. Right now, the minimum amount you should show is AUD 29,710. This shows the Australian government that you can support yourself financially while also studying.

Step 6: Get Health Insurance

All overseas students, studying in Australia need to have Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC). This insurance assists in completing the costs of medical and hospital visits. Ensure you purchase it and attach it as part of your visa application documents.

Step 7: Meet Health Requirements

The Australian government has laid down some conditions before you can study in their country and one of them is that you have to be in good health. This may require one to go for a check-up with a healthcare provider. If you require one, organize it through a doctor on an approved list and provide the report to your application.

Step 8: Meet the Character Requirements

This means you have to prove your acceptable character. This involves completing portions of your application that ask about your experience. In certain situations, you will be needed to produce a police clearance certificate.

Step 9: Apply Online Using ImmiAccount

ImmiAccount is an immigration and citizenship application that allows applicants to apply online. Visit the Australian Department of Home Affairs official website to apply for an ImmiAccount, which allows you to maintain your application online. It is used to complete your application, attach any papers, and even pay the application cost (around AUD 575). You may also monitor the status of your application with this account.

Step 10: Wait for Your Visa Decision

After submitting your application, you might need to provide fingerprint and photo data (biometrics) or attend an interview if requested. Processing times can vary, but you will receive an email about the decision. If your visa is approved, it will be linked to your passport electronically, and you can start planning your travel to Australia.
