Identification of market gap means discovering an unsatisfied need or an unnerved segment in the industry. Study your target market to understand your customer's behaviour and preferences. Study their pain points here current product or services fails, where it is undeserved or there is very little competition.  

Do this through watching your competitors, what they offer and then realise the gap that is what customer wants and is not offered.
