The first dinosaur skeleton was discovered by English geologist and paleontologist William Buckland in 1824. He found a partial skeleton of Megalosaurus near Oxford, England. Buckland described these fossils and published his find, making Megalosaurus the first dinosaur to be scientifically described and accepted.
