What's the contemporary replace on [ongoing investigation]?

If you mean a modern, clearer way to say “ongoing investigation,” the best wording depends on the context. Common alternatives include “active investigation,” “the investigation is continuing,” or “the inquiry remains open.”

For a formal update, you could write: “The investigation is ongoing, and no conclusions have been reached.” If you share the sentence or setting—such as a news report, workplace notice, or legal document—I can suggest wording that fits.
