Prevention of cancer includes both healthy lifestyle and screenings. These are the main ways to reduce your risk: Avoid Tobacco: Smoking and tobacco consumption is one of the biggest cause of cancer, particularly lung, mouth, throat and bladder cancer.

Healthy Diet: Emphasize on fruits, vegetables, whole grains and lean proteins. Reduce processed food, red meat and sweet beverages. Healthy Weight: Being overweight or obese predisposes one to many cancers such as breast, colon and kidney cancer.

Exercise: Try to get at least 150 minutes of moderate exercise a week to keep weight gain at bay and to keep hormones in check.

Moderation- alcohol: Use alcohol sparingly- or not at all. Even low doses cause risks of certain cancers. Take Care Of Your Skin: To decrease the risk of skin cancer, wear sunscreen, protectively clothe, and avoid tanning beds.

Vaccinate: Some vaccines such as HPV (human papillomavirus) and Hepatitis B can prevent cancer that is caused by these infections.

Safe Sex: Be careful of risky behavior that can cause infection and lead to cancer.

Undergo routine check-ups: Routine check-ups such as breast, cervical, colorectal, and skin cancer can improve the chances of cancer treatment. Reduce Contact with Cancer-Causing Agents:Limit contact with cancer-causing agents such as asbestos, radon and industrial pollution. The practice of these habits does not guarantee you that you will not get cancer but your odds of getting cancer are highly reduced.
