  3. Maintain a healthy weight : Being overweight or obese  can increase the risk of heart disease . Aim for a body mass index within the healthy range .
  4. Quit smoking : Smoking damages blood vessels and contributes to the buildup of fatty deposits in the arteries , increasing the risk of heart diseases. 
  5. Limit alcohol :  Exercise alcohol consumption can raise blood pressure and contribute to heart disease . Limit alcohol intake to moderate levels.
