Getting enough sunlight is important for several reasons :

  1. Vitamin D Production : Sunlight exposure helps the body produce vitamin D, which is essential for bone health, immune function,and various other physiological processes.
  2. Mood Regulation : Sunlight exposure stimulates the production of serotonin , a neurotransmitter that help regulate mood and ward off depression. Lack of sunlight can contribute to seasonal affective disorder and other mood disorder.
  3. Circadian Rhythm Regulation : Exposure to natural sunlight helps regulate the body's internal clock, promoting healthy sleep -wake cycles and overall circadian rhythm.
  4. Skin Health: Moderate sunlight exposure can improve certain skin condition like psoriasis , eczema , and acne. However , it's essential to balance sun exposure to avoid skin damage. 
  5. Eye Health : Sunlight exposure is crucial for the development and maintenance of healthy eyesight , particularly in children.
