There are many crucial reasons why Paris Agreement is critical for the environment. This is an international achievement of human effort to tackle the interconnected problems of climate change.

• Above everything else, the Paris Agreement constitutes of an elaborate and universal approach in the fight against global warming. It unites nearly 200 countries under a common objective: limiting global warming to below 2 degrees Celsius and working towards keeping warming under 1.5 degrees Celsius. It establishes distinct temperature goals and paves way for concerted international efforts towards curtailing climate change’s most severe manifestations.
   
• Its importance further stems from the fundamental tenet of NDCs. Each nation in Paris Agreement is supposed to give and declare its NDC, explaining steps for decreasing GHG pollution. Such NDCs can be regularly revisited and upgraded as national realities change and new perspectives emerge. Such flexibility encourages ownership and facilitates a participatory environment for nations to consider their specific challenges and capacity while responding to the global phenomenon.
   
• It should be noted that the Paris Agreement states about specific requirements to developed countries related to climate finance and technology transfer. It establishes means for providing financial and technical assistance to such countries that are aimed at mitigating and adapting them to the consequences of climate change.
   
• Transparency and accountability are key parts of the agreement as well. Each country has a responsibility to regularly provide reports on progress with regards NDC implementation so that other nations can monitor progress and determine whether all countries are pulling toward this common goal. Such transparency builds trust, as it prompts the member states to be accountable and keep their respective promises.
