- Go to the LinkedIn website or app and log in to your account.
- Click on your profile picture in the top right corner of the page.
- Select "Settings & Privacy" from the dropdown menu.
- Click on "Account preferences" in the left-hand sidebar.
- Scroll down to the "Account management" section and click on "Close account."
- A pop-up window will appear asking you to confirm your decision to close your account. Select the reason for closing your account and click on "Next."
- Enter your LinkedIn password and click on "Done."
Your LinkedIn account will be permanently deleted within 24 hours.
Here are some things to keep in mind before you delete your LinkedIn account:
- Once you delete your account, all of your data will be permanently deleted, including your profile, connections, messages, and activity.
- You will not be able to reactivate your account or retrieve your data.
- If you have any pending job applications, they will be canceled.
- If you have any paid LinkedIn features, such as Premium or Sales Navigator, you will not be able to use them after your account is deleted.
If you're not sure whether you want to delete your LinkedIn account, you can always hibernate it instead. Hibernating your account will temporarily hide your profile from public view, but your data will still be stored on LinkedIn. You can reactivate your account at any time by logging back in.
To hibernate your LinkedIn account, follow the same steps as above, but instead of clicking on "Close account," click on "Hibernate account."
