Anurag Thakur, Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports inaugurated Fit India Freedom Run 2.0 on August 13, 2021, to commemorate the Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav.
This campaign has been begun at 75 'iconic' locations, according to the union sports minister. On October 2, 2021, the Fit India Freedom Run 2.0 will come to an end. People from every district and village will take part in the freedom-run movement during this time. About 5 crore individuals participated in the freedom run 1.0. This year's total has risen to 7.5 crore persons. New Delhi's Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium hosted the Fit India Freedom Run 2.0.
To keep Indians fit, the government plans to reach out to every home with the motto 'Fitness ki dosage 'aadha ghanta roz.' Fit India Freedom Runs will be held in 744 districts across India, with 75 villages in each district and 30,000 educational institutions participating. From August 15 to October 2, 2020, the first edition of the 'Fit India Freedom Run' was held.
