This institute is being established as a university by combining the Institute of Archaeology (Pt Deendayal Upadhyaya Institute of Archaeology), the School of Archival Studies under the National Archives of India in New Delhi, the National Research Laboratory for Conservation of Cultural Property (NRLC) in Lucknow, the National Museum Institute of History of Art, Conservation, and Museology (NMICHM), and the Academic Wing of the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA).
