To strengthen India's medal chances at the 2024 Paralympics, the country's first high-performance para-badminton academy with cutting-edge facilities and equipment has been established in Lucknow.
The Paralympic Games, also known as the
Games of the Paralympiad, are a periodic series of international multi-sport events that feature athletes with a variety of
physical disabilities, such as impaired
muscle power, impaired passive range of movement, limb deficiency, leg length
distinction, short stature, hypertonia, ataxia, athetosis, vision impairment, and intellectual impairment. There are
Winter and Summer Paralympic Games, which have been held practically immediately following the respective
Olympic Games since the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, South Korea. The
Paralympic Games are managed by the International Paralympic Committee. The Paralympic Games are held concurrently with the
Olympic Games, while the
IOC-recognized Special Olympics World Games include athletes with studious disabilities and the
Deaflympics include competitors who are deaf.
