Change the time-out settings on the server
You can manually extend the time it takes for your Outlook application to connect to the server. A shorter Server Time-Out period can result in a variety of issues. To alter your Server Time-Out settings, follow the steps outlined below.
- To get started, open Outlook and go to Files >> Info.
- Select Account Settings >> Account Settings from the drop-down menu.
- Change the target POP3 account by selecting it and clicking the Change button.
- Click More Settings in the Change Account window.
- Increase the Server Timeout time under the Advanced tab.
