This is an example of one of those terrible Outlook error messages:

Error (0x800CCC7D) reported by task 'pop.gmail.com – Send': 'SSL secure connections are not supported by your outgoing server (SMTP). Please contact your server administrator or Internet Service Provider if SSL secure connections have previously functioned (ISP).

The error code 0x800ccc7d is most often caused by the following factors:

  1. Outgoing server or SMTP that does not support SSL.
  2. Invalid or erroneous account settings, or a corrupted Outlook profile.

Here are some suggestions for resolving this issue:
Delete the SSL cache
Some Outlook users reported that deleting the SSL cache fixed the problem. To clear the SSL cache, close your email client by clicking the Windows Start button in the lower left corner of your screen, then click Control Panel > Internet Options. In the Internet Properties window that opens, click on the Content tab, then click the Clear SSL Status button.
