Start Outlook in Protected Mode.
  1. In a safe mode, open the Outlook app. To do so, simply hit the Windows + R keys on your keyboard. The Run box will appear.
  2. Type Outlook.exe /safe into the run box and hit Enter. You can now work in a secure environment.
  3. You must also disable the plug-ins. To turn them off, go to the File menu and select Options.
  4. Select Add-ins from the drop-down menu.
  5. In the 'Manage COM Add-ins' section, click 'Go.' You're done once you've cleared the checkboxes.
