‘Linoleum’ was invented by ‘Frederick Walton’ in the year 1860. It was invented for the first use as ship deck covering.

Who invented the Linoleum?
Frederick was inspired to create the material when he saw the linseed oil has oil forming a sheet atop a layer of paint. On this observation, he tried to mix together linseed oil with tree raisin, powdered limestone, cork dust, wood flour, and pigments. Then, he pressed the mixture in a jute bag, that’s how the first Linoleum floor was created.
His full name was ‘Frederick Edward Walton. He was an Englishmanufacturer and inventor. He invented Linoleum in ‘Chiswick’ and got its patent in the year 1863. It was his experiment with the oxidized oil to get a replacement for rubber. As with the passing time, his invention became very popular because it was considered excellent and inexpensive material for high-use areas.
