Vulcanization is a Chemical Process which help to improve the elasticity of natural rubber and harden the rubber from getting tore or broken. The chemical process makes the natural rubber waterproof, moldable in any shape, and harden as well. The word vulcanization is derived from the word ‘Vulcan’, it means, the Roman God of Fire. The Company was named after Charles Goodyear as “Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company”.
He was among the six individuals selected for the induction into the “National Inventors Hall of Fame” on February 8, 1976. He died at the age of 59 years on July 1, 1860.
