RUBLE OR ROUBLE IS THE CURRENCY OF RUSSIA.

What is the currency of Russia?

The Russian ruble commonly referred to as the rouble is the money of Russian, as well as the two unrecognized states of Donetsk and Luhansk and the two officially recognized nations of Abkhazia and South Ossetia. The ruble is divided into hundred kopeks.

The ruble was the Russian Empire's and the Soviet Union's money (as the Soviet ruble). Also, Russia, Belarus, and Transnistria use the same moniker for their currencies now. The ruble was the first money in Europe to be decimalized, with 100 kopeks equaling one ruble in 1704.

The Soviet ruble (code: SUR) was replaced by the Russian ruble (code: RUR) in September 1993, with a value of 1 SUR = 1 RUR. The Russian ruble was redenominated with the new code 'RUB' in 1998, just before the economic meltdown, and traded at a value of 1,000 RUR = 1 RUB.
