Sunny Verghese, Co-Founder and Group Chief Executive Officer of Olam International, has been appointed as the chairman of the Geneva-based World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD). His term has been started from 1 January for the duration of two years and the appointment has been made by a vote from the members at the 2017 Annual general meeting of WBCSD held in Mexico-city.
He succeeds Mr. Paul Polman who was the CEO of Unilever. He has been Chairman of WBCSD since 2014. Mr. Polman’s term ends on 31 December 2017.
