The ‘International Conference on Unani Medicine’ of 2018 was hosted in New Delhi city. The event was inaugurated by “Dr. Jitendra Singh”. He is the Union Minister of Development of North-East Region.
The theme of the Conference was, ‘Integration of Unani System of Medicine in Mainstream Healthcare’. The event was organized on November 10, 2018, and was a two-day event. The 2018 year was even more special for the Unani fraternity as it was the 150th Birth Anniversary of ‘Hakim Ajmal Khan’. To mark the Birth Day more special the Central Council for Research in Unani Medicine (CCRUM), under the Ministry of AYUSH which organized the conference as part of Unani Day Celebration.
Many National Level personalities and stakeholders from various fields as well as researchers in the field of Unani Medicine participated in the conference. The various countries delegates participated in the conference were from South Africa, Sri Lanka, China, United Kingdom, Bangladesh, Portugal, UAE, Israel, Slovenia, Hungary, Bahrain, Tajikistan, and many more. The conference also provided a platform for researchers, academia, industries, regulatory, and student to develop the vision, as well as initiate projects to promote the Unani System of medicine.
The Conference also dealt with various issues and had a thorough discussion over research, globalization, and standardization.
Unani Medicine is practiced in mainly Middle-East and South-Asian Countries. Unani Medicine is based on the teachings of the Greek Physician Hippocrates and Roman Physician Galen. Hippocrates is known as the Father of Unani Medicine. Unani Medicine has originated in Greece and about 2500 years ago. Unani and Traditional Medicine became a wide range of medicine all over the world. Unani Medicine has its own definite feature of India’s composite culture and is very much than ever before in the Indian Sub-Continent.
