The Prime Minister of India “Shri. Narendra Modi” launched the National Nutrition Mission and Pan India Expansion of Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao (BBBP).
On March 8, 2018, on the occasion of ‘International Women’s Day’ celebration, both the campaigns have been launched, which covers all the 640 districts of the Country. This mega event was organized at ‘Jhunjhunu, in Rajasthan’. In the event, Prime Minister also awarded 10 districts of the Country for their outstanding performance in three different areas. Firstly, six districts were awarded under ‘Effective Community Engagement’ category, which includes Raigarh in Chattisgarh, Sikar in Rajasthan, North Sikkim from Sikkim, Bijapur in Karnataka, Tarantaran in Punjab, and Hyderabad in Telangana. The second category was ‘Enforcement of PC & PNDT Act’ was awarded to two districts i.e. Sonipat in Haryana, and Ahmedabad in Gujarat. Third category under which two districts i.e. Jhunjhunu in Rajasthan and Udhampur in Jammu & Kashmir were awarded for ‘Enabling Education of Girl Child’.
Prime Minister also launched the National Nutrition Mission, and address the gathering by saying with the technology the nutrition and health are also very important for the overall improvement of the young generation. He said Mission Indradhanush has brought an immense change in the lives of women’s and children’s. He even mentioned about the available data by the ‘Health Management Information System’ that the improvement in Sex Ratio at Birth. As the Prime Minister said, no district will be left from the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao Campaign, but initially their maximum focus over districts is which are below National Average or where the condition is critical and need proper assistance.
The total expense bear by the government for the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao Campaign is Rs. 1132.5 Crore from 2017-18 to 2019-20. As well as the successful implementation of this campaign at Jhunjhunu in Rajasthan has motivated the government to go to Pan India and expand the program to all the districts.
