“Adnan Sami” is the Pakistan-born Singer and he was granted with the Indian Citizenship on Humanitarian grounds which came in effect from January 1, 2016.
He made the request to the Indian Home Ministry on May 26, 2015, for giving him the citizenship of India. He was born in London, United Kingdom, on August 15, 1971. Whereas, his father belongs to Pakistan and served as the Pilot in Pakistan Air Force. His full name is ‘Adnan Sami Khan’. His family roots are from India and Pakistan both. His father was from Pakistan and Mother from Jammu in India.
He completed his education in West Midlands, UK, and Bachelor’s Degree in LLB from King’s College London. He became a qualified barrister from London’s Inn, England. While considering his musical journey, his first single was released in 1986 and recorded it for UNICEF. He is a great artist, and since March 2001, he has been living in India on Visa.
In 2015, Pakistan declined his Nationality Identity over disrespectful behavior towards his National Identity. The ‘renunciation of Citizenship Certificate’ is mandatory for a person who wants Pakistani Citizenship, but Adnan was declined for this certificate by the Pakistani authorities. Whereas, he was having Pakistani passport on March 2001, visa issued by Pakistan Authorities from Islamabad. But due to this behavior, his passport renewal was declined on May 26, 2015, and then he tried to apply for Indian Citizenship on Humanitarian grounds to legalize his stay in India.
He was even exempted from the proceedings under Section 3 of the Foreign Act. The Indian Authority marked the way for Sami’s permanent citizenship after allowing him over minor issues and granted him the citizenship of India on January 1, 2016. He claimed it as a New Year gift for him by the Indian Government Authorities.
