Salzburg is located in ‘Austria’. The Salzburg city is the Capital of Salzburg Bundesland. The city is situated near the Salzach River basin and is surrounded from two sides with the river. The city is near to the Northern Foothills of the Alps and the Bavarian border which has its border with Germany as well from the other side.

The city has a rich historic center, with a quality mix of art and architecture. The city is added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1996, due to being the most preserved city with having 27 Churches. The city is also the birthplace of the 18th Century Music Composer ‘Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’.

Salzburg city is located at an altitude of 47.80 Latitude and 13.04 Longitude and is at the 435 meters above the sea level. It is also considered as one of the greenest city of Europe. The total population of Salzburg is 150,269 and making it the biggest city in Salzburg with the maximum population.

However, Salzburg even faced relatively little damage during World War II and has also become the headquarters of the U.S. military forces in Austria from the year 1945 to 1956. At the present time, Salzburg is considered as the northwestern gateway to Austria and is having an important road and rail junction with an international airport at Maxglan in Salzburg.
