- Mac OS X does not require connection software, this does not effect you. When your computer connects to their service, most ISPs merely require the correct user name and password. This is something that Mac OS X can perform without any additional software. Follow the steps outlined in the technical document 106282: 'Setup Assistant Does Not Accommodate DSL User Name and Password in Mac OS X 10.0.'
- If you use a DSL or cable modem to connect to the internet and your ISP employs PPPoE, use the PPPoE pane in Network options on your Mac to enter account details provided by your ISP.
- To update these settings on your Mac, go to Apple menu > System Preferences, click Network, and then select a network service from the left-hand list.
- If the Network pane has a lock at the bottom left, click it to unlock the preference pane.
