The Indian Army has introduced a modern texting app called 'ASIGMA' (Army Secure IndiGeneous Messaging Application). It is a next-generation web-based application created fully in-house by a team of Army Signal Corps officers.
The new program is being put on the Army's corporate network to supplant the Army Wide Area Network (AWAN) texting application, which has been in use for the past 15 years, according to the Army.

ASIGMA has been deployed on Army-owned gear and is designed to provide lifelong support with upgrades, according to the company. ASIGMA includes several modern features, such as multi-level security, message priority and tracking, a dynamic global contact book, and a range of alternatives to fulfill the Army's needs, according to the company.
'This career communications app would fulfill the Army's true data transmission and communication demands, particularly in light of the present geopolitical threat climate, and is in keeping with the administration of India's Make in India strategy,' according to the release.
