The military has acquired the first batch of 70,000 weapons from Russia as half of a wider deal to construct the AK 203 assault rifles in India. Despite the Covid-19 epidemic, the initial group was given at a rapid rate as desired by India.
During the ongoing first 2+2 conference, India and Russia inked a military technology cooperation pact aiming at strengthening defense relations over the next years. The two nations also agreed to purchase AK-203 assault rifles, paving the stage for the manufacturing of over 6 lakh of these tiny guns in Amethi. The agreement was reached at a planned meeting among India's defense minister, Rajnath Singh, and his Russian counterpart, Sergey Shoigu.
