The Africa Cup of Nations 2022 football competition was won by Senegal.
The 2022 African Nations Championship, also known as the Total African Nations Championship (or CHAN 2022), will be the seventh edition of the African Nations Championship, a biennial football tournament organized by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) that will feature only players from the respective national championships.
Algeria will host the tournament. It was initially intended to run from July 10 through August 1, 2022. However, on September 10, 2020, the CAF stated that the tournament has been rescheduled for January 2023, following the postponing of the 2020 African Nations Championship to 2021 and the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations to 2022 due to the COVID-19 epidemic.
Unlike the African Cup of Nations, participating national teams must be made up of players from their respective local leagues. For example, an Algerian footballer can only represent his country if he is competing for an Algerian club.
