At AIIMS New Delhi, Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Bharati Pravin Pawar inaugurated the Union Health Ministry's National Oxygen Stewardship Program.
As part of its preparations for a probable increase in Covid-19 cases, the Union
government started a project to teach
health care personnel the logical use of clinical oxygen to reduce wasting. A key component of the
National Oxygen Stewardship Programme, each region in the
nation would have at least one oxygen steward selected and instructed.
The
government has authorized at least 1,500 Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) oxygen-generating units, 1,463 of which have been completed, comprising 1,225 erected and commissioned under the
PM CARES Fund in every region of the nation. All states and union territories have been requested to deploy PSA units in public
healthcare centers and also to make it easier for similar plants to be installed in private institutions.
