Section 299 of the Indian Penal Code has the provision related to Culpable Homicide and section 304 of subsection 2 says about the punishment of Culpable Homicide.

Whats the difference between IPC 299 and 304 2

Section 299 of IPC

Defines Culpable Homicide as whoever causes death by doing an act to cause death or cause such bodily injuries that amount to death or likely to cause, or with the knowledge that he is likely by such act to cause death, commits the attempt of Homicide.

There is some illustration that has been given which will show the clear difference between murder and Culpable Homicide.
There have been given three illustrations that can also be used to know the real nature of the act by the example.

Section 304 of IPC

The section defines the punishment of the culpable homicide which does not amount to murder.
The above section is saying about the punishment for the Culpable Homicide as whoever commits culpable homicide not amounting to murder shall be punished with the imprisonment of life or imprisonment amounting to be the ten years of his life, and also will be liable to the fine.
If the act that has been committed with the inte9ntion of such act causing death or cause of such bodily injury as is likely to cause death, or with the imprisonment which will not amount to be more than 10 years.
