Why can't people see me when I call them on Skype?

  • Go to the Preferences box in Skype and select the Video icon. 'Built-in iSight' should be selected for 'Camera,' and 'Enable Skype Video' should be enabled. In the preview window, you should be able to see yourself. Make sure the video symbol at the bottom of your window is lit up when you're actually contacting someone.
  • Double-check that the other individual isn't 'hidden.' Make sure the 'Hide Myself' or 'Stop My Video' options are not chosen when the individual right-clicks on her Skype screen. Furthermore, if the other person does not have the most recent version of DirectX technology, video on Skype may be disabled.
