What is Union Public Service Commission?

Union Public Service Commission is an independent constitutional body meant to recruit civil servants at the union level. It comprises a chairman and members for 6 years or until the age of 65 years. They are appointed by the President and the President can also remove them. It conducts examinations for appointment to the service of the union and helps the states in operating schemes of join recruitment. 

State Public Service Commission recruit civil servants at the state level. The service conditions of SPSCs members are determined by governor whereas service conditions of Joint PSC are determined by President. The chairman and members of SPSC are appointed by the respective governments and are for 6 years or until the age of 65 years.
