- You may put your iPhone or iPad into recovery mode and then restore it from your computer.
- In some cases, you may need to restore your device using recovery mode:
- Your computer refuses to recognise your device or displays a message indicating that it is in recovery mode.
- If your screen has been stuck on the Apple logo for several minutes and there is no progress indicator on the screen.
- The recovery mode screen appears.
- Check to see if your Mac is up to date. If you're using iTunes, check sure you're using the most recent version.
- Open Finder on a Mac running macOS Catalina. Open iTunes on a Mac running macOS Mojave or earlier, or on a PC. Close iTunes if it's already open, then open it again. Determine which version of macOS your Mac is running.
