Steps to  install Windows 7/8 on a Mac:

  • Check for updates on your Mac.
  • Now you'll need to get the Windows support software (drivers). This software enables Windows 7 to interface with the hardware on your Mac.
  • Open the Boot Camp Assistant programme. Search for 'Boot Camp Assistant' using the magnifying glass at the top right of the screen. To open the software, select it. If you haven't already, make a backup of your hard drive. At the bottom right corner of the window, click Continue.
  • Put your Windows 7 installation DVD in the drive.
  • Boot Camp will partition your hard drive in order to make room for Windows 7.
  • Press the Install button.
  • Follow the onscreen instructions in the Windows installer until you're asked whether you want to undertake an Upgrade or Custom installation.
  • Custom Installation should be chosen.
  • When asked where you want to install Windows, you should say: Select the 'BOOTCAMP' partition. Then select Format, then OK.
  • Finish installing and configuring Windows by following the onscreen prompts. Your Mac will automatically resume using Windows after you install the Windows programme.
  • Your Mac will reboot and boot into Windows for the final time.
