  • It's known as the 'spinning beach ball,' 'rainbow pinwheel,' or 'ferris wheel of doom' to most of us. Apple calls it the'spinning wait cursor,' which is accurate but lacks the sense of impending doom that the small ball generates. It occurs when your Mac tries to execute a task but is unable to do so due to a lack of hardware resources.
  • Other factors can trigger it, but the final consequence is the same. You start screaming as your Mac becomes unresponsive.
  • Wait patiently.-Give your Mac a few minutes to finish what it's doing when you hit the spinning beach ball. Your computer may entirely recover in a short period of time, allowing you to resume work. The spinning beach ball isn't always a sign of impending doom.
  • Force the app to close if it has become frozen.-If only one app is malfunctioning, go to the Apple Menu in the top left corner and select Force Quit... Select the app that's producing issues and press the 'Force Quit' button. The good news is that you may now save any work you have open in a secure manner.
  • If the App continues to freeze after you reopen it, you will need to restart it
