My Music, My Life is a documentary about India's most well-known artist. Ravi Shankar introduced Indian classical music to the world stage in the 1960s through his friendships with George Harrison and Philip Glass, and he went on to become one of the most prominent musicians of the century, performing at Woodstock in 1969.

Shankar discusses his journey from a young wandering dancer to a Grammy Award-winning, a worldwide famous musician in his own words. The book is as much about living a musical life as it is about the art of music, and it is at once a riveting biography, a history of Indian classical music, and a handbook on how to play the sitar. It was first published in 1968.

A new prologue by Philip Glass, gorgeous, never-before-seen images and a new closing chapter detailing Shankar's wish for the preservation of Indian classical music are included in this edition.

Ravi Shankar, the famed sitarist and composer, is a one-of-a-kind phenomenon in both the East and the West's classical music realms. Yehudi Menuhin, Jean Pierre Rampal, Phillip Glass, and George Harrison have all commissioned him to write music for them. The international award-winning musician is a member of the United Nations International Rostrum of Composers and an honorary member of the American Academy of Arts and Letters. He is well-known for being one of the first to bring Indian music to the West. He splits his time between California and India.
